The Innocents' work is process-oriented, collaborative,
improvisational and committed. Their dance research incorporates
elements of Yoga, Feldenkrais, and the work of Deborah Hay. "...solid

Soloist Sarah Brumgart: Undercurrent

Soloist Sarah Brumgart performs "Undercurrent,"
a structured improvisational dance. A yoga practitioner and acappella
dancer since 1974, she has traveled the world as a champion gymnast
and post-modern dancer. The Washington Post described her work as
"... both virtuosic and heroic, an almost encyclopedic marathon
of movement possibilities" and Yoga Journal as "...a meditation
in motion, with constant attention to every detailed movement. The
result is powerful to watch." The New York Times states "...
she moves as if the dance were flowing through her." Born and
raised in Chicago, Brumgart has lived in New York City and is currently
based in Austin, TX.

A night of nonstop choreography and performance curated
by Chicago independent choreographer Sarah Haas. Featuring Cutman
Dance Crash, known for their combination of athletic theater and
conflict driven dance; the earthy, tranquil movement of Sabrina
Cavins; and Haas' solo "Wednesday Afternoon, Red Line to Nowhere."
"Still Breathing" is Supported by a CAAP grant from the
City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Illinois
Arts Council.

Bharatanatyam combines 'Bh'ava (emotional expression),
'Ra'ga (Melody) and 'Ta'la (Rhythm) to create a fulfilling artistic
experience to both the performer and the connoisseur. Sainath has
been a student of renowned Gurus, Ms.Padmini Ramachandran, Ms. Radha
Sridhar and Ms. Narmada, and Guru Ms. Sundari Santhanam, a senior
student of the legendary Guru Dr. Padma Subramaniam. She combines
various influences to evolve a distinct style of her own, critically
acclaimed not only for the clarity and perfection of her movements,

The Sphinx asked: "What walks on 4 legs in the
morning, 2 legs in the afternoon, and 3 legs in the evening?"
Up and coming Chicago choreographers Suzanne Dado and Adriana Durant
have answered the riddle choreographically. Dado's dances portray
time slowing down, speeding up, stopping altogether, pushing and
pulling, and sometimes leaving us in suspended animation. Durant
illustrates time spent in development; reconsidering choices made,
overcoming obstacles, and being together. |
